Dear Flist Friends:

Recently I claimed a prompt on two different fests. I've been very excited about both.

Only one fest piece is being submitted and I've messaged the moderator of the other fest with my apologies. This past month I've had on average one evening a week and maybe four hours a weekend to apply towards any fun hobby, which I consider writing to be a part of.

I've claimed a prompt which others may have wanted and could not get, and now that prompt won't be filled. I've barely been able to write 1K words for it, and I'm nowhere close to being finished.

I don't take this lightly - the moderators go to a great deal of trouble to put together these fests. There really isn't an excuse - I should not have allowed my excitement to get the better of me and I should have only taken on one promise at a time.

You're not an ass. Life happens, hon. Can you get an extension, or are things that cray-cray right now?

They are fairly cray-cray, and it's going to take me a while to work in the time to complete this. Life does happen, but that doesn't change that I made a commitment.

Please don't be hard on yourself, Helena. I think most people have had to drop a fest at some point in their fandom lives - I know I have, several times. Stuff happens, sometimes we overextend ourselves, sometimes unexpected things occur, or sometimes you just can't get to grips with the prompt when it comes down to it. You've let the mods know and that's all anyone can do.

That makes me feel better. I know others have dropped, and this is the first I've done so with. I just hate that someone depended upon me for something, and right now I'm too burned out to figure out what to do.

Don't be so hard on yourself, hon. RL sometimes gets in the way. ❤️❤️❤️

Dear heart, you are most certainly not an ass. You are only guilty of being human just like the rest of us. Sometimes LIFE (and her Timepiece) has other plans for us, and being stronger than our best intentions can ever be, SHE wins out. Don't be so hard on yourself.

Thank you, Beffey. I've wanted to shatter that timepiece against the wall lately!

Life happens! Don't worry about it. Everyone's hit the wall with writing at some point!!

That's what is happening here. When I've found a few moments to write, my brain is spinning with so much other stuff.

Babe, it happens. Please don't beat yourself up. We've all had to drop out of a fest because real life got in the way. Don't despair, and don't give up on the prompt! Some of my favourite pieces are ones which started out as a fest prompt and got posted ages after the event.

I understand how you feel, sometimes life got us in a hurricane and we can't cope with everything. Maybe another writer would like to pick your prompt where you left it?

Don't beat yourself up sweetie. As Forrest Gump says, 'Shit happens'. Fanfic is fun but RL takes precedence. And like Teddy said, there is no reason that you can't post the fic to other archives when you do finish it. That's how my fic 'Strange Bedfellows' was born. It was supposed to be for the first ss/hg promptfest, but I didn't finish it by that hard fast deadline and had to drop out. I felt just like you do now, so much so that I didn't join any fests again for a long time. Please don't let it get you down. You know we love ya. ;)

You're definitely not! These things happen - if one of us haven't dropped out of something yet then we sure will with time. As much as we love it, it's only fanfic! Your sanity matters 100x more. We love you!

Don't be so hard on yourself! Real life always comes first! You can always finish the fic later and everyone will enjoy it just as much. Xx

Hey :) This is so random and has nothing to do with your post but I saw that about two years ago on another post that you were able go get the Snape fic Potions for Foxes. Is there any way you can email it to me please? I would be endlesslh grateful if you could. I've been looking for it forever now...
My email is taylorlyn123@yahoo.com.

I hope .pdf works for you - I just sent it!
Sad thing is, I'm ashamed to admit I don't think I ever read it. You'll have to let me know how it is!

Ahh, bless you! I can't believe you never read it. It's been so hyped up by others that it sounds like one of the greatest stories of SSHG. I will definitely let you know, and thank you again for sending it! So sweet of you... xo
